Title: Night Sprinkles on a Doomed Fate
Summary: Kaitlyn cannot find reason in her abused life, despite her mysterious and powerful gifts. Can she find comfort in a tall, dark stranger?
Rating: PG
Genre: Romance/Angst

The night wind blew chill across Kaitlyn Silverdust Moonstone's fair face, sending her ankle-length, silky, ebony-black hair flowing behind her, revealing her delicately pointed ears and framing perfectly her voluptuous figure, clad in a clinging, flowing silver gown. The gown, tantalisingly low-cut yet modest, rippled along the ground, changing colour as it caught the light. Her almond-shaped lavender/cobalt eyes were filled with pearly tears which coursed down her shapely, flawless face.

Kaitlyn liked to come outside whenever her alcoholic father, who had murdered her mother when Kaitlyn was a baby, became abusive. Her mother had been the only person poor Kaitlyn had ever trusted, ever been able to talk to. The girls of her family had always been elven sorceresses, so she had raised up her dead mother's spirit using an ancient spell passed down her family for generations, and it had taken the form of a sleek midnight-black cat with bright green eyes and a long tail. The cat's name was Moonlight.

"Why, oh why must I suffer this torment?" Kaitlyn asked Moonlight plaintively as the cat perched on a log, daintily licking its paw.

"I promise you, my daughter, soon you will be free. Your the only one who can fulfil the prophecy and break the curse. You must do this task, or the world will fall to ruin."

Kaitlyn nodded melancholy, touching the silver amulet that hung about her neck. It was enthused with magical powers, and was a symbol of her fated destiny. "Yes, I see that I must. But I cannot do this task alone, Mother."

"You must find one to help you, one that would give you that gift that will allow you to fulfil your task: love."

Huinesoron smiled into the hand-mirror, revealing perfect white teeth in a flawless, masculine yet beautiful face. He wandered through the garden, huge muscles rippling on his bare torso and under his tight, black leather trousers. His eyes were a dark and beautiful grey.

As he wandered in the garden, he heard a beautiful voice on the sweet-scented breeze. She sang a haunting melody, which tugged at Huinesoron's soul and brought tears to his steel-grey eyes.

In the middle of the Earth in the land of the Shire
Lives a brave little hobbit whom we all admire;
With his long wooden pipe, fuzzy woolly toes,
He lives in a hobbit-hole and everybody knows him:

Bilbo (Bilbo!) Bilbo Baggins,
He's only three feet tall,
Bilbo (Bilbo!) Bilbo Baggins,
The greatest little hobbit of them all.

Now hobbits are peace-loving folks, you know:
They're never in a hurry and they take things slow;
They don't like to travel away from home,
They just like to eat and be left alone.

But one day Bilbo was asked to go
On a big adventure to the caves below
To help some dwarves get back their gold
That was stolen by a dragon in the days of old.
Bilbo (Bilbo!) Bilbo Baggins,
He's only three feet tall,
Bilbo (Bilbo!) Bilbo Baggins,
The greatest little hobbit of them all.
Well, he fought with the goblins,
He battled a troll,
He riddled with Gollum,
A magic ring he stole,
He was chased by wolves,
Lost in the forest,
Escaped in a barrel from the Elvenking's hall.
Bilbo (Bilbo!) Bilbo Baggins,
The greatest little hobbit of them all.
Bilbo (Bilbo!) Bilbo Baggins,
The greatest little hobbit of them all.

Huinesoron burst through the gently waving trees into a clearing, where he beheld the most beautiful maiden he had ever beheld. She was the one who had been singing, and she was tall, slim and fair, with beautifully pointed ears and a shapely silver gown with sleeves that came down to her hemline, but only underneath. Her hair was ankle-length and black as ebony, and her eyes were large and shining and lavender/cobalt.

Huinesoron felt his breath catch in his throat, and knew he was in love.

He strode toward the maiden, and she turned, long eyelashes fluttering and ample cleavage heaving at the sight of him. He knelt before her, and took her pale, shapely hand. "My Lady, would thou do mine the honour of being mine wife?"

Her almond-shaped lavender/cobalt eyes stared longingly into his soft steel-grey ones, and her peach-pale hand was soft to his touch. For a moment it seemed she might accept his noble offer, but then her eyes filled with tears and she said in her soft, fruity voice:

"I grieve to decline, sir. For I am doomed to a terrible fate, that if I might not succeed this great world would be gone. My fate is tied by fortune and prophecy, and I would not have another suffer because of it."

"My Lady," he replied, "fair Kaitlyn Silverdust Moonstone, whose name is the tinkling of silver bells and whose voice is a choir of angels, whose eyes are deep pools of starry beauty and whose body surpasses that of Christina Aguilera, I wouldst feel no sorrow nor hurt if you would only be mine wife."

Kaitlyn was sorely tempted, and a small sob welled up in her throat as a wave of sorrow washed over her. Oh, how could she allow this ravishing young man to share in her great sorrow? I must suffer it alone, allowing him to dwell in happiness, she thought bravely.

But then Moonlight spoke up from her perch on the log. "Remember my fortelling," she said. "To fulfil your Quest, you need that one wonderful gift: the gift of love."

Then Kiatlyn Silverdust Moonstone saw how true this was, and she took Huinesoron into her fair arms and led him to a secluded grotto lit by moonlight. And he kissed her passionately, and all her hurt and despair fell away as she kissed him back underneath the stars, which were the spirits of her ancestors, smiling down on her. She slipped out of her gown and he caressed her flawless curves, running his manly hands over her perfect skin, as they melted into one another's arms.
